Originally
from Flint, Michigan, Chris is multi-instrumentalist/composer now
residing in Chicago. Since beginning the study of music in elementary
school, he has become a successful musician wherever he goes. With a
background firmly rooted in jazz, Chris confidently delves into any
musical situation with confidence instilled by the combination of
real-world experience and academic study. Chris graduated from Western
Michigan University in 2006 with degrees in Music and the Spanish
Language, and most recently completed his Masters of Fine Arts in Music
Composition for the Screen from Columbia College Chicago.
His
musical tastes range a wide spectrum from flamenco to electronica,
hip-hop to arabic music, klezmer to funk, R&B to jazz to latin and
south american musics, preparing Chris for any musical context.
Composing and performing in a tremendous range of
styles on a wide range of instruments (including saxophones, clarinets,
piano, accordion, and percussion) Chris is an in-demand
multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, copyist, orchestrator,
"ethnic music" enthusiast, and all around musical character.
As the lab manager of the state-of-the-art MFA Film Scoring Lab at Columbia College Chicago, Chris teaches Music Technology Labs and Techniques of
Synchronization. The MFA program's resident 'Logic Ninja', Chris acquaints
students with the ins and outs of composing using the latest generation of computer technology.
Chris lives in Hoffman Estates with his wife Claire and their boston terrier Walter. Chris enjoys cooking, video games, good beer,
films, and
always
savors
great music of all kinds.
